The expanded version of the 96″ is ready to be delivered to PA. Fun project. First full size one I have built. Because I have built so many of the smaller canoes, it was a breeze. All the same.
I used the same forms with the centers cut of them so I was able to use the Harbor Freight 4″ sliding bar clamps to hold the strips in place. I have wondered why other people don’t do this?

Very pleased with how strong and lightweight it is! Light deck is ready to be installed. I have always said that building the models was just like building the real thing, but this is the real thing. A lot of fun. If you build one of the model kits, then you’d be well versed in building a full size one.
Light deck cross members dropped in place. Strong longitudinals. Hanging the canoe by four eye bolts instead of two. Will have six LED Flat panels and painted green.
Showing the 13 footer all glassed and ready to be popped off the forms, then the ribs and rails. The smaller canoe is the 96″, which it is a big canoe by itself. Building the full size canoe was exactly like building one of our kits. Lots of fun. Used the same 8′ strips and butted them.

Building a strong back and a way to support it is a little more involved than one of the smaller kits, but is all the same. If you build one of the smaller kits, then you should have no problem building a full sized one. This canoe will be going to PA for a commercial real estate conference room.
Steve Heck of Mansfield, TX purchased the 96″ Canoe Kit with the Paulownia wood strips instead of the pine. Paulownia is a lot like Cedar, light, easy to work with, glues well, sand’s easily. Greg has moved right along on his project.

Dave built a beautiful get away and needed to light up his bar. He did a great job using the Kayak Chandelier light kit. He used rope to hang it which might be the best way. 4 LED Flat panels lights that are dimmable and can switch to warm white, cool white or sun white. Great job Dave!
Awesome job Kyle! Very detailed job of building the 36″ canoe kit. He also made a nice you tube video of the canoe build and also one of a wood locomotive that he built from scratch. Amazing job is an understatement. Says he only has basic tools.
Sebastian sent in these pictures showing his 54″ canoe coming together. He sanded a bit to much and sanded through the edge of a wood strip. This happens, but is easily fixed by carefully cutting out the damaged strip and gluing in a new one. Sebastian will be sending in a revised photo soon. Thanks for the photos!
Sebastian is working on his canoe outside using a portable set up. This is an excellent way to do it. Enjoy the outdoors and don’t worry about any mess.
Like it’s big brothers, the 36 can be turned into a very functional and beautiful light for over your desk, snack bar or as reading light over your bed. Will come with the 20 watt LED lights. Will be a offered for around $75.
